‘Tis the Season for Our First Day of
Student Applications

This holiday season, we are spotlighting a different student every day and how they’ve built an application in order to solve one of their community’s toughest challenges.

On this day, December 1st, we are spotlighting one of our youngest students from this past year, Ella.

Ella, a first grade student, built her app to help others in her community. Her app called “How to be calm” allows user to participate in mindfulness exercises and receive positive affirmations to brighten your day.

‘Tis the Season for
Our Second Day of


Student Applications

Caleb, a 5th grade student, built an app that connects people with organizations they can donate to to help children in need in Africa.

“I like helping people,” said Caleb. “It’s sad to know that people are suffering. I can change the app by adding on more charities to also try and get us one step closer to getting out of this coronavirus.”

 

‘Tis the Season for Our Third Day of
Student Applications

High school student, Makalia, built an app to fight for youth voters during this year’s election season. Her app, Just Vote, empowered more young people to vote and get educated on important voting issues.

‘Tis the Season for
Our Fourth Day of


Student Applications

Middle school student, Jacquan, built an app to help his community on Chicago’s West side. His app is aimed at eliminating gun violence and bringing safety to his community. His app additionally aggregates resources for people who are affected by gun violence.

Jacquan drew from his own personal experiences in order to help others who have similar experiences.

Fifth Day of
Student Applications

9th grade stuent, Jillian, built an app called “Politaea” which means “the rights of citizens.” Inspired by the Black Lives Matter movement and the desire to get involved, Jillian built her app aimed to increase safety and transparency for her community members when coming into contact with law enforcement.

Our Sixth Day of


Student Applications

Middle School student, Tyree, built an app called “Stop Bullying” that aimed to proactively stop bullying and help those who are experiencing bullying in their schools and communities.

His app brings attention to this important issue and connected students with resources and support.

Student Applications

High school student, Ellie, built an app called “Plastic World” that aims to help solve the global environmental crisis.

Her mantra is that “we can all make a difference.” In that vein, her apps allows users to track and monitor their waste, while providing helpful tips and information to help users make improvements in their daily lives.

High School student, Jonmichael, builds an app called “Alpha” that tackles an everyday topic: Laundry! His app empowers communities to “help they neighbor” and bring people together.

High school student, Elijah, built an app that he calls ESHA — the Elementary School Helping App. With a heart for philanthropy and volunteering, his app connects motivated volunteers with opportunities to mentor and support teachers and students at elementary schools.

High school student, Roshni, combines her passion for crocheting and social impact by building an app called “Pattern Zone”

Pattern Zone is an exciting app for crochet lovers and connects users with homeless shelters to donate their end products to.

High school student, Tyler, built an app called HSP: Homeless Shelter Provider that connects homeless shelters with resources nearby. Tyler’s exceptionally helpful app enables communities to perform resource mapping and deliver resources to people in need.

It all begins with an idea. Maybe you want to launch a business. Maybe you want to turn a hobby into something more. Or maybe you have a creative project to share with the world. Whatever it is, the way you tell your story online can make all the difference.

We’re a grassroots, community-based organization. Your donation is critical to helping us grow.

Student Stipends.

Many of our students are also caretakers for their families. Stipends allow students to choose this educational program while maintaining this important familial role.

Teacher Wages.

Our teachers have both education and technology backgrounds, in addition to cultural competency. Wages enable personalized learning in the classroom and a high level of care for all students.

Team Capacity.

Since Code Your Dreams was founded, our entire leadership and operations team have remained volunteers. We plan to dedicate at least 10% of fundraising dollars to enable Code Your Dreams to hire staff in the next 12 months.
